Isn't there a law about taking down flyers?
I have read the articles in the newspaper about the teacher's contract. Do we or do we not have a teacher's contract?
If anyone can shed light on this I would appreciate it. Why would Cindy Smith bring up this issue if there was not some merit to it?
We're not sure if there's a law against removing other people's flyers. We are, however, 100% sure as to why they are being removed. If the members of the Oley School Board were confident that their motives were truly in the best interest of our students, there would be no reason to worry about all of the taxpayers seeing this very public information. It's as if we're sitting behind the scenes of an old spy movie. Problem is, we've all seen this movie, and it gets a terrible rating, every new tax year.
As for the possibility of TEACHERS removing or destroying the flyers: again, the question comes up concerning their finished products. If the teachers feel they are giving 100% to their jobs, their students, and the people that fund their salaries, they would never worry about taxpayers researching the facts and figures.
Taking down flyers is part of the same dirty tactics that were used when ACT 50 yard signs were being stolen. I'm glad to know the teacher union can still mobilize a field effort.
Ok, who are our viable candidates, this Blog needs to be a forum for individuals who will represent the majority. The problem in the past has been, we don’t know where candidates stand on the issues. Electing someone for the sake of electing someone is not the right approach. Like electing judges, they run on both tickets and you never really know what they stand for, only recently because of what was at stake were we able to get a true picture of the Supreme Court Judges. But local judges, you don’t know until it’s too late.
I have an after thought about comments made regarding kids getting hurt on the track, it appeared that you would think that there must be a file cabinet filled with accident reports, how can that be, it was also stated that no one uses the track?
How many other schools still use cinder tracks? I can imagine that if you do not perform maintenance on a track it can get rutted and compact. It would be safe to say that if there were injuries it would be to the blame of those responsible for the proper care. How dangerous can a flat surface be? Running on a grass field can be just as dangerous unless it is cared for like a fairway on a golf course.

Instead of a Blog, organize a meet the candidate night. There used to be such activities in the Oley School District. At the same time, ask your twp supervisors and county commissioners to attend if they are up for re-election (God knows that we need to get rid of 2 out of the 3 county commissioners even more than the School Board members).
It is all inter-related - If the township politicians keep allowing houses and no businesses, then taxes keep going up. While cleaning house, clean it all.
It is a shame that our communities have been failing in our convictions for the past 30+ years ago, and never straightened it out, and now the problem has escalated to this mess.
Speak for the Majority- ? Who is in that club? Retiree's, Worker's, Parents, Farmers, Those who lived in the area for the past 30 years, or those who are new to the area (less than 30 years). Those who are concerned on the education of the kids, those who just want lower taxes, or those of who want the best education possible for the kids, without the frivilous spending that we currently have.
This post isn't intended to antagonize anyone, and please don't take it that way. I am just curious what demographics are represented throughout this blog and what "the majority" is looking for.
Do we work for the school board or does the school board work for us?
The board is quick to jump when a small group lobbies for something they want, such as a nice new track, "just like Boyertown and Exeter have".
Unfortunately, when the board is presented with a petition with several hundred names, there is dis-connect above the shoulders. Talk about falling on deaf ears.
What next?????
